OUR KILNS

We build three types of kilns:

Gas. Generally constructed as downdraft for reduction firings, our gas kilns use nine inches of insulation brick (hard or soft). We also build sculpture burnout kilns.

Soda/Salt. Soft or hard brick - we will discuss with you the pros and cons of each.

Wood. Anagama/noborigama, bourry box, Phoenix fast fire, and single- and two-chamber catenary arch kilns. We work with existing plans or help you create your own unique design.

We have a reputation for building kilns that are:

Constructed from the highest-quality materials. Since our kilns are constructed on site, there is no need to cut corners to facilitate shipping. We work with all major brick and burner manufacturers, and will tailor the selection of materials to best fit your situation.

Efficient and easy to fire. Extra brick means extra insulation power, more controlled cooling and reliable, even firings. A well-designed and insulated kiln will save you money in the long run.

Extremely durable. With proper maintenance, our gas kilns should last a lifetime. They've been known to survive even the most destructive students!

Backed by unlimited technical support. We understand that sometimes new kilns take a little getting used to...and that reliable old kilns may suddenly misbehave. That's why we make ourselves available by phone or email to answer questions and help solve problems.

Beautiful. Although we make use of the most advanced technologies in burner systems and refractory, we honor the centuries-old tradition of the kiln as an object of great stature and beauty. We just couldn't build a kiln any other way.
